Extended Endurance Test

Extended Endurance Testing

Train Smarter, Perform Stronger, Last Longer

ISHP’s Extended Endurance Test is a science-backed assessment designed to measure your sustainable power, aerobic capacity, and endurance thresholds with precision.

Whether you’re a runner, cyclist, triathlete, or endurance enthusiast, this test gives you data that goes beyond typical fitness trackers helping you understand how your body performs over longer efforts and how to optimize your training for real results.

What Is the Extended Endurance Test?

The Extended Endurance Test, sometimes called an Extended Endurance Ramp Test is a structured, interval-based assessment that evaluates how well your cardiovascular and muscular systems perform over steady-state and progressive efforts.

Unlike short burst tests, this assessment places emphasis on aerobic capacity, pacing strategy, and sustainable output during longer exercise intervals.

The protocol typically lasts about 60 minutes, combining short work intervals (often 2–4 minutes) with brief rest periods to help pinpoint your metabolic thresholds and your steady-state performance zones.

The result is a highly accurate understanding of how your body produces and sustains energy crucial for training beyond just short maximal efforts.

Who Can Benefit From the Extended Endurance Test?

The Extended Endurance Test is ideal for:

  • Long-distance runners preparing for half-marathons, marathons, or ultra events

  • Cyclists dialing in pacing and power zones for longer rides

  • Triathletes looking to understand aerobic thresholds across disciplines

  • Competitive and recreational endurance athletes wanting accurate training zones

  • Individuals invested in personalized, data-driven training plans

Because this test focuses on measurable performance thresholds rather than general estimations, it’s especially beneficial for people who want precise, personalized training guidance rather than guesswork.

Why You Should Book an Extended Endurance Test

If your goals include smarter training, stronger endurance performance, and clear data-driven pacing strategies, this assessment is one of the most valuable tools you can use.

You’ll gain:

  • Accurate endurance thresholds beyond generic heart-rate zones

  • Sustainable power or pace metrics to guide your workouts

  • Personalized training insights tailored to your physiology

  • Better pacing strategy for longer events

  • Actionable data you can use immediately in your training plan

This test doesn’t leave you guessing, it equips you with precision data to make every training session more effective and every race day more strategic.

What to Expect During the Test

Here’s how your Extended Endurance session typically unfolds:

  • Warm-up: A brief period of light activity prepares your muscles and cardiovascular system.

  • Interval Assessment: You will complete repeated intervals, usually between 2–4 minutes at increasing intensity levels, with short rest breaks in between.

  • Steady-State Focus: The test is structured to capture how your body performs during sustained effort, rather than only at maximum output.

  • Threshold Identification: Through this controlled approach, we determine key endurance metrics like your aerobic threshold, pacing efficiency, and sustainable power or pace.

  • Results & Report: After the test, you’ll receive a detailed breakdown of your performance zones and recommendations tailored to how your body responds across effort levels.

The test takes about 60 minutes and is conducted in a supportive, guided environment with expert supervision.
